Supplying First-Rate Industrial Fabrics to Businesses
Mohawk Fabric was founded in 1922 in Amsterdam, NY by Benjamin Lichtman. Benjamin passed the company down to his son Alfred Lichtman sometime in the 1940s. In 1985, the company was purchased by Gregory Needham from the Lichtman estate. Gregory sold the company to its current owners in December 2010.
After 100 years, Mohawk Fabric remains a small, family-owned company with a long and rich history, where we strive to uphold the quality and service our customers have depended on for almost a century. In 2011, the new management team committed to and executed an entire overhaul of the company, bringing in new technology and capabilities, while maintaining the principles our founders passed down generation to generation.
The company added almost 20,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing and much-needed office space. The undertaking required investing in infrastructure, knitting machines, renewable energy, and additional yarn processing capabilities. However, even with the facility upgrades, we are, first and foremost, a knitting mill, providing high-quality fabrics.
We provide our customers with technical textiles made of silk, cotton, nylon, polyester, rayon, Nomex®, Dacron®, and carbon. We do business with both large and small companies in various industries, and work to meet specific company needs.
